Ductile iron castings are also referred to as ductile cast iron, nodular cast iron, spheroidal graphite cast iron and SG iron, that is described as cast iron with the graphite substantially spheroidal in shape and essentially free of other forms of graphite.
With good mechanical properties, castability, machinability, ductile iron castings are a cost-effective option to metal parts, many products that were cast steel or welding are cast in ductile iron today.
